Aussie actress Natasha Bassett nails breakdown-era Britney Spears in Ever After
Aussie actors are getting really good at imitating iconic Americans.
Devon Terrell did his Barack Obama thing in the December Netflix original film Barry, and now another actor from Oz is playing noughties pop queen Britney Spears in Britney Ever After.
The trailer has been released, and although we can't say that Sydney-born Natasha Bennett bears much of a resemblance to Brit (other than being white, blonde and female), she appears to be a pretty solid actor.
The focus on the trailer is on Britney's 2007 breakdown, and it comes with all the chintzy melodrama we've come to expect from recent unauthorised TV movies about iconic stars.
Unlike Joseph Fiennes's version of Michael Jackson in the now-cancelled Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon episode of the Sky Arts series Urban Myths (it was pulled due to massive backlash), Natasha, doesn't appear to be playing Britney for laughs.
When she says, "I want to be strong for my fans. They're what keeps me going," you actually believe her.
