Bridgerton stars Nicola Coughlan and Jonathan Bailey reveal details about Season 2

Whether you binge-watched the entire first season in one go or rationed out the eight episodes, no doubt you've been left wanting more Bridgerton.

While Season 2 is yet to be announced by Netflix, the show has been watched by approximately 63 million households the streaming platform revealed, making it one of their most successful original programs to-date and prime for another series.

The period drama is based on a series of books, which means a storyline for next season is already there and the stars of the show tell 9Honey Celebrity they're keen to do more.

"I would love to do it because there are eight books in the Bridgerton series so there's a lot more stories to go," Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington says. "And the second series would be about Anthony, which would be really fascinating."

Jonathan Bailey — who plays the dashing Anthony Bridgerton and will therefore be at centre of Season 2 if the books are anything to go by — tells 9Honey Celebrity he's hopeful fans will see plenty more from the Ton.

"I think the thing everyone needs to know is that Chris Van Dusen, the showrunner, is pretty extraordinary at taking something and surprising people along the way.

"We've got the eight books as a framework, so with him and the whole of Shondaland behind it, I think we're all going to be surprised. Let's hope there'll be Christmases to come for the Bridgertons."

What the next season might have in store for the hunky Duke of Hastings (played by Regé-Jean Page) and his new bride Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) remains unclear.

However the actors recently addressed rumours their on-screen romance has spilled off-screen as well.

"All the sparks that flew off of the beautiful scripts that we were handed, and so I think that the sparky scripted material is more than enough," Page said in an interview with Access.
