When you think of period dramas, corsets are probably the first thing that comes to mind — not Kim Kardashian.

But the new Netflix drama Bridgerton has brought the two worlds together with French couturier Mister Pearl — the man that helped bring together that famous "dripping wet" Met Gala look on the reality TV star — hired to do some of the costumes.

Lead actresses Nicola Coughlan and Phoebe Dynevor tell 9Honey Celebrity it was something that made them "scream" a little, to be following in Kardashian's footsteps.

"I remember them telling us that he was going to do our corsets and we had a fitting with him and he had literally just done Kim Kardashian's for the Met Ball, so it was the most exciting thing that Mister Pearl was doing our corsets," Dynevor recalls to 9Honey Celebrity over Zoom. "I think me and Nicola sort of screamed about that a little bit.

"They were crafted so perfectly to our body — I think we were quite lucky to have corsets that actually fit us."

The Netflix drama is a little bit of Pride and Prejudice with a hint of Fifty Shades and features Dame Julie Andrews, who provides a Gossip Girl-style narration. All produced by the people behind Grey's Anatomy.

Dynevor, who stars as Daphne Bridgerton in the steamy new series about London debutantes looking for love, got away with just a half corset which was less painful.

Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, was a little less lucky.

"I had the full thing, right down over your hips so you're sort of sat up, you're a bit like a mannequin but as Phoebe said, they're so perfectly made, they're made custom for you," she recalls. "I've never had more measurements taken on my body than that. They made a cast of my torso actually one day — it's where they cover you in cling film and sellotape."

During the chat Dynevor suggests Coughlan should ask for the cast to be sent to her place.

"It would be quite a nice ornament to have," she quips.

Coughlan laughs: "Yeah, but I think it would probably freak people out."

Dynevor tells her co-star to get a body-shaped candle or product made from her cast, to really follow in Kardashian's footsteps.

The reality TV mogul had her famous curves turned into the bottle of her fragrances — KKW Body II and a Unisex KKW Body III.

Mister Pearl has previously made corsets for Kylie Minogue's Showgirl tour, as well as creating a number of looks for performer Dita Von Teese over the years.

Bridgerton will be available to stream from Christmas Day on Netflix.
