Bindi Irwin breaks the rules with slow waltz…but wows the judges anyway

Adam Bub

Aussie star Bindi Irwin has continued her run as the series favourite on Dancing With The Stars US, but not without a bit of criticism from judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

Although the judges raved about Bindi and dance partner Derek Hough's "connection", the 17-year-old's waltz featured a controversial lift that had Carrie Ann fuming. The crowd booed her afterwards – see what went down above.

Dancing to Jonny Lang's 'Only a Man', Bindi and Derek still scored 23 out of 30. Just a slight fall from the 25 they earned from their AC/DC-themed tango in the previous episode. Tamar Braxton, however, earned the top score with 25 out of 30. Bindi dethroned? What?!
