Billy Ray Cyrus has said he “almost died”, detailing his 2024 near-fatal health battle which he had previously kept private. In a new interview, he thanked his daughter Noah Cyrus for “saving” his life.
The country music star, 64, told People, he had sepsis, which causes widespread inflammation around the body, and later, vocal paralysis.

“I got really sick and almost died and as I was trying to stay alive, at times they sent me home from the hospital...,” he said.
“But my body was blowing up [with] a toxicity of some type,” he revealed.
Cyrus said he would visit a ‘prayer rock’ for better health asking for a “miracle”.
“If it had erupted, I would have died. In the last moment, I had a prayer answered.”
“Lo and behold, they were going to do one last surgery. I got to the hospital [and] they said, ‘Mr. Cyrus, it’s gone. It’s healed.’ I had a miracle.”
He added that a song by daughter Noah Cyrus, 26, saved him.
“Noah’s got that one song, that honestly saved my life, it’s called Don’t Put It All On Me,” he said.
The Achy Breaky Heart crooner was previously married to Tish Cyrus, but the pair have since split.

She is now married to Aussie actor and Prison Break star, Dominic Purcell, 56.
There were previously “family feud” rumours for the Cyrus clan, and Billy Ray last year shared a tribute to Miley and ex Tish.
“I’m so proud of Miley and her guts and her courage… her wisdom and strength to bring it when our family needed it most,” he said.

“We are so close to a full healing. We have all been through a lot.”
“Tish Cyrus was and is the very definition of a strong mother.”
“Trust me I’m the first to admit... being married to me was not easy. I’m very good at making mistakes. A very imperfect man,” he added.
He recently married Australian singer Firerose, but their relationship ended in divorce.
Now, he’s dating English model and actress Elizabeth Hurley, 61.
Things are looking up for Cyrus, with the pair now celebrating their milestone one year anniversary.
This week, the country star shared a sweet tribute to his girlfriend to mark the occasion, sharing a picture of the pair sharing an embrace as he kisses her on the cheek.
It seems serious, with the crooner calling the star “the love of my life”.
