Bella Hadid shares candid look at what it's like living with Lyme disease

Bella Hadid has given her followers a glimpse at what her life is like while living with a chronic autoimmune illness.

The supermodel was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, a bacterial disease that also affects her brother, Anwar, and mother, Yolanda.

Hadid uploaded a series of photos to Instagram, including one which showed an IV in her arm while she was getting her hair done.

"Living with a few chronic autoimmune disease = always finding time for my IVs," she wrote.

On her story, Hadid also shared an image of bandages on her arms, writing, "After 10 years of needles, my tiny veins usually give out once before we get a good one."

In the past, the 24-year-old has spoken about her disease. Last August she shared a list of common symptoms of Lyme disease, which included headache, fatigue, joint pain, fever and more. She wrote that she feels "at least 10 of these attributes without fail".

During a 2017 interview with PORTER magazine, she recalled a time when she "couldn't get out of bed for six days."

"My brain would get all foggy, and I couldn't see," she told the publication. "That was the hardest time of my life."
