The Wicked co-stars quietly split several months ago, according to multiple US outlets. It’s reported the decision came after careful consideration, but the stars appear to be amicable as they go their separate ways.

Grande, 32, has been focusing on releasing new music and kicking off her Eternal Sunshine tour. Outlets report the Thank U Next singer’s new album or career move has not been inspired by the breakup or her relationship with Slater, 34.
According to multiple sources, the actors are still friends and supportive of one another.
The singer and Broadway star met after they were cast in the hit musical to movie adaptation Wicked. Grande played Glinda and Slater starred opposite her as Boq, who was romantically interested in Grande’s character.
The pair were first pictured together in a March 2023 post by their co-star Michelle Yeoh. The timeline around Grande and Slater’s then-rumoured romance, however, sparked controversy as it appeared to coincide with their respective splits.
Rumours began swirling they were dating around late July 2023, not long after Grande had split from her then husband Dalton Gomez.
Grande then reportedly filed for divorce on September 18, 2023.
Meanwhile, Slater was married to Lilly Jay from 2018, and they share a son, three, together. He filed for divorce on July 26, 2023, Us Weekly reported at the time.

Adding fuel to the fire, Slater’s estranged wife then told PageSix in July at the time her divorce made headlines that Grande was “not a girl’s girl”.
“My family is just collateral damage,” she said.
In March 2024, Grande dropped her seventh album Eternal Sunshine. Fans quickly began to speculate songs like Imperfect for You and Yes, And? were about her relationship with Slater.
A few months later, Grande spoke out about the backlash she had received over her romance with Slater in a cover interview with Vanity Fair published September 30.
“The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it,” she said of how her relationship was perceived wrong. “That was definitely a tough ride.”
