‘Stuff of nightmares’: Anne Hathaway mortified over ‘horrifying’ red carpet moment
Anne Hathaway recently went viral for a red carpet moment, directing photographers and ordering them around – a moment she now calls “horrifying”.
The 43-year-old addressed the moment during an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and was mortified when she realised he was going to play the clip.

The pregnant actress was on the Verity red carpet in New York with her co-stars and immediately took charge, telling the crowd of photographers where to go and how it was going to work as she posed alongside co-stars Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett.
Fallon told her he was going to play the video, and her mortified reaction instantly spoke volumes.
“I know exactly what you're going to show and it's horrifying, it is the stuff of nightmares,” Hathaway said.
“You kind of went into mum mode,” Fallon joked.

“It was mum mode by way of chorus line,” she agreed.
Hathaway explained she was just “trying to be helpful” in the moment.
“There were so many of us and the photographers were getting upset, and the vibe was changing,” she said.
But even she knew that as soon as the moment was over, she knew it was going to come back to haunt her.

“I was doing it because I was trying to get them their picture but when I was done I was like ‘but there's also video!’ And I went into a full cringe crouch from inside,” she said.
“I apologise everybody. That girl came out to play last night. Actually, she didn't come to play. She came for business.”
The red carpet moment went viral almost instantly.
While Hathaway shouted instructions at the group of photographers, her co-star Johnson did an odd little dance on the spot before touching Hathaway’s bump.

The star, who’s pregnant with her third child, then yelled to the group of photographers, “OK everybody ready? We are going to start from the left and then we can make our way that way.
“We are going to start here and then we are going to do what Josh said.”
Johnson piped up to add, “Then I’m going to leave.”
It’s been a mammoth year for Hathaway, who aside from announcing her third pregnancy, has also been on a whirlwind press tour for six movies.
The year kicked off with press for Mother Mary early in the year, then The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, The End of Oak Street and most recently Verity, for the movie adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel.
The press tour for Verity wrapped at the end of September, leaving Hathaway now to have a big break and enjoy maternity leave before the new arrival.
