‘Always you’: Erin Holland and husband welcome baby after years of fertility struggles

Australian model Erin Holland and her husband Ben Cutting have welcomed their child into the world following years of fertility struggles.

The model, 37, and cricketer, 39, were going through fertility struggles and IVF for five years before they were able to fall pregnant earlier this year, announcing the news on Instagram.

This morning, the pair announced that they welcomed their baby on August 18.

The heartwarming post included pictures of the pair holding the bub, as well as Holland in bed breastfeeding and one snap of a tiny hand wrapped around a finger.

“All of the sudden, it all makes sense. It was always you,” the caption reads.

In May, Holland opened up about her fertility journey on the Something To Talk About podcast, revealing that the couple had gone through 20 rounds of IVF, five egg collections, seven transfers, four miscarriages and one ectopic pregnancy.

“I think the hard part about infertility and pregnancy loss is that beautiful naivety of just seeing a double line on a pregnancy test is robbed from you because the first time you do it, it’s elation, it’s so exciting,” she told podcast host Sarrah Le Marquand.

“Then the second time you do it, you’re cautiously excited. By the third and the fourth time, you think it’s catfishing you.”

In an exclusive interview with nine.com.au earlier this month, Holland, admitted that she feels like she’s been “looking over her shoulder” her whole pregnancy. 

“I feel like I’ve been waiting for it to go wrong the whole time, which is really sad,” she said. 

“I’m starting to get excited now, which is nice, now that we’re sort of so far into it and everything’s going OK.” 

Holland added the years of infertility gave her a different perspective and appreciation for pregnancy.

“I think the thing that I’ve noticed the most just through sharing my own story with the wider community is, it’s so common that people struggle and struggle in silence,” she said. 

“And just because it was hard to get pregnant, doesn’t mean you’re gonna have a smooth pregnancy, or it doesn’t mean your birth’s gonna go smoothly, it doesn’t mean early childhood’s gonna go smoothly and I think I’m just so aware of that. 

“I’m just waiting for the next disaster, and I know it’s terrible.” 

Holland and Cutting waited until she was at the 23-week mark before they announced the news of her pregnancy publicly. 

With her history of pregnancy losses, she explained the hardest thing has always been falling pregnant and staying pregnant, that she hasn’t even considered being a parent. 

She had previously opened up about the pair’s journey, revealing that the pair had spent $150,000 in IVF costs.

The model had also previously posted about the couple’s fertility journey on her Instagram account.

“Many losses, many failed transfers down, today was all about exploratory surgery, internal ‘renovations’ & starting testing from scratch again to try & find some answers to the soul destroying unknown,” she wrote in one post.

“Infertility feels like your face is pressed up against the glass of a club you so badly want to be a part of, but no one is letting you in.”

“To all going through it, life can be tough ... but my darling, so are you. Hang in there.”
