Single mum living 'paycheck to paycheck' wins $3 million on My Lottery Dream Home

Everyone wants to win the lottery, but there was no winner more deserving than single mother-of-two Christine who is also a guardian to her special needs sister and carer to her mother.

Christine, 31, realised her whole life was about to change when she won US$2 million (AU$3.058 million) from a scratcher card.

In an episode of My Lottery Dream Home – which you can stream for free on My Lottery Dream Home – Christine enlisted the help of host David Bromstad to help her achieve her dream of becoming a homeowner.

"I was living paycheck to paycheck and that was really hard. I have two kids to support," Christine explained what her life was like before the win.

Christine, who hails from Massachusetts in the US, had "worked in retail [her] whole life", but decided to put work on the back burner while she focused on finding her family's forever home.

Despite winning US$2 million (AU$3.058 million), Christine set herself a modest budget of US$550,000 (AU$840,000).

With $3 million in the bank, life was about to get a bit easier for single mum Christine.  9Now

Christine's wishlist included three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fenced in backyard and a property near the waterfront.

David did his best to present just that and took Christine to checkout a half-an-acre lakeside property in Cedar Shore.

"I love it!" Christine exclaimed walking through the front door of the property that came in under budget at US$499,000 ($AU760,000)

Property number one was an instant hit. 9Now

Christine was just as stunned by the second property which sat on close to 1.5 acres of land and was worth US$459,000 (AU$700,000).

"There's so much space for my kids to play," Christine beamed.

Although Christine wasn't sure if she had the time to maintain the amount of land that came with the property.

Brad had one last home up his sleeve – a ready-to-move-into townhouse in Sunny Meadows that was up for sale for US$500,000 (AU$764,000).

Christine was delighted by the modern furnishings but she was unsure if this house had too little land for her family to spread out in.
