Polar blast bringing snow falls to towns across four states
Rare snowfalls are forecast this week for communities outside south-eastern Australia's mountainous regions when a blast of wintry weather sweeps in.
From tonight into early tomorrow, a polar air mass will generate snow on the mountains of Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and the ACT, reports weather channel Weatherzone.
But, unusually for late autumn, elevated areas below the mountains can also expect dumpings.

By tomorrow, snow is forecast to fall as low as 500m above sea level in Tasmania, 600m in Victoria, 700m in the NSW Snowy Mountains, and 800m in the ACT and the NSW Central Tablelands.
Victorian and NSW alpine resorts as well as the higher mountains of Tasmania are looking at maximum snowfalls of up to 20cm.
Far lighter flurries are forecast at lower elevations, but the chance of snowflakes remains on the cards for regional cities and towns, such as Orange in NSW, which sits 860m above sea level. Large parts of the ACT outside the suburbs of Canberra should also receive snow.
Here are the best places in your state to see snow :
NSW: While Oberon, about three hours' drive west of Sydney, receives regular falls, the closure of part of the Great Western Highway, makes it difficult to reach. You'd be better off visiting the nearby town of Blackheath.

Victoria: Heavy falls bring the risk of road closures to the high country areas around Melbourne. Mount Macedon, just an hour's drive north-west of the city, regularly records light snow flurries.
ACT: Forecasters say the best opportunity is probably the Corin Forest Mountain Resort, about a 45-minute drive from Canberra.
Tasmania: The Apple Isle will be spoilt for choice from tomorrow with falls forecast across the state. For Hobart residents, halfway down the summit of Mount Wellington (1200m above sea level), there should be snow.
