Israeli forces have warned residents in a dozen villages in Southern Lebanon to urgently evacuate, warning of attacks on Hezbollah, which it claimed violated the ceasefire agreement.

In a post to X, IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee said residents in 12 towns and villages in the Sidon district should leave immediately.

"In light of Hezbollah's violation of the ceasefire agreement, the IDF is compelled to act forcefully against them. The IDF does not intend to harm you," the post to X read.

"For your safety, you must immediately evacuate your homes and move at least 1000 meters away from the villages and towns to open areas."

The IDF said anyone near Hezbollah operatives, installations or weapons was putting their life at risk.

Iran may refuse to attend FIFA World Cup, football chief says

Eleanor Wilson

Iran may refuse to attend the upcoming FIFA World Cup, unless the US can guarantee it won't insult the Revolutionary Guard, according to London-based Iranian news network Iran International English.

The country's football federation chief Mehdi Taj, a former Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps officer, said Iran would be hosted by FIFA, "not Mr Trump or America".

"If the Americans guarantee they will not insult our military institutions, especially the Revolutionary Guards, we will go to the World Cup," Taj said.

The FIFA World Cup is due to be held across North America from June 11.

In April, FIFA turned down Iran's request to relocate its matches from the United States to Mexico.

Eight killed, dozens injured in major fire near Tehran

Associated Press

A fire in a shopping centre near Iran's capital has killed eight people and injured 40, according to Tehran's emergency service department.

The fire started on Tuesday local time in the Arghavan shopping centre in Andisheh town in Tehran province.

It's not clear what caused the blaze and authorities are investigating, Iran's state television IRIB said.

Television footage showed firefighters battling the flames as large plumes of black smoke billowed from the multi-story building.

There was no indication the blaze was linked to the war, where a shaky ceasefire with the United States has been holding for around three weeks.

It's the first time since the start of the war that Araghchi has traveled to China, whose close economic and political ties to Tehran give it a unique position of influence.

China is the biggest buyer of Tehran's crude oil.

The Iranian official's arrival in Beijing comes about a week ahead of President Donald Trump's planned visit to China, where he is expected to have a rare in-person meeting with leader Xi Jinping.

Protesters clash outside New York pro-Israel event

Patrick Brischetto

Duelling crowds of protesters rallied outside a pro-Israel event at one of New York's most prominent Modern Orthodox synagogues for the second time in six months.

According to freedomnews.tv, which shared videos of the clashes, about 100 protesters gathered roughly a half-block from Park East Synagogue.

Demonstrators traded chants and insults, while a heavy police presence kept the groups away from each other and from the synagogue. Intermittent scuffles broke out throughout the evening, mainly between the police and pro-Palestinian demonstrators, but there were no arrests, the police said.

More than 600 attacks against US facilities in Iraq during Iran war

CNN

There were more than 600 attacks against US facilities in Iraq during the active conflict of the Iran war, a senior State Department official said today.

The revelation casts new light on the severity of the barrage by Iran and its proxies against the US interests. CNN has reported on a number of missile and drone attacks targeting the US Embassy in Baghdad, the US Diplomatic Support Centre and the US Consulate in Erbil.

The Embassy in Baghdad today again warned that "Iraqi terrorist militias aligned with Iran continue to plot additional attacks against U.S. citizens and targets associated with the United States throughout Iraq, including in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (IKR)."

"Some elements associated with the Iraqi government continue to actively provide political, financial, and operational cover for these terrorist militias," a security alert said.

US officials have called on Iraqi leadership, including Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi to crack down on Iranian-backed militias in the country.

The senior State Department official said that Iraqi leaders "understand what the United States is looking for."

Iran denies attacking UAE, threatens 'crushing and regretful' response if attacked

Adam Vidler

A spokesperson for Iran's Revolutionary Guard has denied that Iran was behind the latest missile attacks on the UAE.

"Had such an action taken place, we would have announced it with decisiveness and transparency," the statement read, as reported on state media site ISNA.

"Therefore, the report by that country's Ministry of Defence is absolutely denied and is devoid of any truth."

The statement also condemned the UAE for aligning with "Zionists", "non-believers", and "polytheists" in Israel and the US.

(Side note - polytheism, or the belief in multiple deities, is a term applied by some parts of the Muslim world to Christians, due to the latter faith's belief in the Holy Trinity.)

"If we have thus far exercised restraint in the face of your atmosphere-mongering and your assistance to the enemies of the Islamic Ummah and Iran, it has been solely for the sake of security and out of consideration for our Muslim brothers and sisters in that country," the statement read.

"We warn that if any action is taken from the soil of the UAE against Iranian islands, ports, or the shores of our country, we will deliver a crushing and regretful response."

Tehran says Project Freedom halted after 'warnings from Iran'

Adam Vidler

While Trump is framing the "pause" in Project Freedom as a generous offer to help get a peace deal over the line, Iran is unsurprisingly taking a different approach.

A statement quoted by state-run media said the US had "failed to achieve its objectives".

The regime also said Trump retreated from Project Freedom "following firm positions and warnings from Iran".

Trump claimed peace talks were close to fruition.

Why Aussies in the UAE shouldn't film missile attacks

Adam Vidler

Australians in the UAE have been reminded to be careful where they point their cameras as Iranian missiles again threaten the country.

Australia's ambassador to the Emirates, Ridwaan Jadwat, posted an alert after strikes began again yesterday.

As well as a general safety warning, Jadwat underlined a local law that must be observed.

"Australians are reminded that it is an offence under UAE law to record or share footage of missile or drone activity, including any damage resulting from debris," Jadwat said.
