DeLorean successfully argued entrapment in court, and was found not guilty.
But by the time of his acquittal in 1984, his car company had ceased operations.
Ironically his ill-fated sports car would live on in motoring history when it was featured the following year in the hit Hollywood movie Back to the Future.
On Oct. 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty, a gift from the people of France to the American people, was dedicated in New York Harbour by US President Grover Cleveland.
The giant statue stands 93 metres and is a popular tourist attraction for visitors to the Big Apple.
The world famous Harvard University in the north-east US was founded on October 28, 1636.
Named after its first benefactor, the clergyman John Harvard, it is the oldest institution of higher learning in the country.
