Deaf puppy rescued after spending 30 hours trapped down a 15-metre hole.

A seven-week-old deaf puppy named Toffee has been rescued after spending 30 hours stuck down a 15-metre crevice behind a house in Alabama.

Volunteers erupted in cheers of joy as the pup was pulled out of the narrow hole at midnight on Saturday with the help of a snare and some food.

Toffee fell into the narrow crevice around 5pm on Thursday and firefighters, cave rescue crews and plumbers joined the rescue effort, lowering nets, snares and food to try to retrieve the pup.

"I'm not going to lie, last night I thought there was no hope we were going to get her out alive," Laura Collins West, the puppy's foster mother, told reporters.

"Y'all this is a miracle." 

“She looks great, I am just so thankful. I don’t even know how they got her out," she added as she hugged the volunteer who rescued Toffee.

Video footage showed the white puppy wagging her tail as Ms West cuddled her.

Huntsville television stations and social media drew thousands of followers as they live-streamed the recovery efforts.

Ms Collins West said she is not going to let Toffee out of her sight and the puppy will be sleeping in her bed tonight.
