Phone clues lead police to mother’s body down well

Police in the US have discovered a woman’s body down a well after following a series of video clues left on her boyfriend’s mobile phone.

On Sunday afternoon officers first responded to reports of a man’s body in a vehicle on a desert road in Maricopa County, Arizona.

The man was identified as 45-year-old William Cahill who had died from apparent self-inflicted injuries.

During a search of his car, detectives found Cahill’s mobile phone and a note telling them to watch the videos on it.

In the videos, Cahill said he had shot his girlfriend “Daisy” twice and placed her body in a well somewhere in the desert.

On Monday, search crews located a private well about 93 kilometres from where Cahill was found.

The well was a concrete slab with a metal well shaft approximately 270 metres deep.

Inside they located the body of “Daisy”, later identified as Cahill’s girlfriend Carolyn Dahlgren, 37.

A crime scene was established and Ms Dahlgren’s body was recovered from the well about 9pm on Tuesday night.

An investigation into what happened in the lead-up to the murder is ongoing.
