Woman sparks heated debate over toilet paper use

A woman has been criticised online for revealing that her household goes through nine toilet paper rolls every week.

The admission sent the internet into disarray and left everyone rethinking their own toilet paper usage.

The anonymous woman posted the query to Mumsnet, and asked whether her housemates’ usage was excessive or commonplace.

“Three adults in my house, two male, one female. I buy a pack of nine a week and we are using 90 per cent of it … honestly I think someone is eating it! What do you use? Is this excessive?” she asked.

Plenty of users on the forum related to the issue that was concerning the woman.

“This is a strong topic in my house. There’s seven of us and the toilet roll use is ridiculous,” said one mother.

“I think the number of girls v boys makes a massive difference. You surely go through more if you have girls. We’re a family of seven, is females vs my husband. Youngest two are still in nappies so there’s me, hubby and three girls, and we go through a 24 pack probably every month,” a mother said.

While others were confused why this amount of toilet paper was being consumed by only three people. The consensus was that a nine pack should last throughout the month.

“Someone is definitely eating it lol. Or using it to clean the toilet maybe” one user questioned.

“That’s a lot. We have 2 adults and 2 children and we use 2-3 toilet rolls max a week” another added.

“How!! Two adults and a teen here and it’s only about 2 a week!” one mum wrote.

Others wrote on the online forum that shopping for better quality products will help cut down on how much the household churns through.

“I think it depends on the brand... I shop at Aldi and get their cheap 'luxury' paper but don't think you get as many sheets to a roll as other brands,” a user wrote.

The dispute lives on.
