Wes Anderson inspired café is a millennial's dream come true

Our dreams of living in a Wes Anderson movie are one step closer to becoming reality.

The quirky, aesthetically-driven director was the inspiration behind a new café in the Southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu, and features an on-trend colour palette, a ball pit (!), and plenty of nooks and crannies perfect for obligatory Instagrams.  

Drawing on Anderson's painstaking attention to detail, his love of vivid and nostalgic colour palettes and preoccupation with symmetry, Melbourne studio Biasol used pink and green walls and furniture, gorgeous marble bar tops, archways, and zig-zag details to bring movies like The Grand Budapest Hotel to life. 

"Our design draws on Wes Anderson's meticulous, memorable, and magical worlds to create an inviting destination with whimsical character and international appear," architect Jean-Pierre Biasol told Dezeen.     

Whimsical indeed when there's a ball pit involved!

The centre of the The Budapest Café features tiered seating, a hanging bubble chair, and a ball pit full of pastel pink balls – the perfect spot to sip your flat white with one, no?
