Scott Cam blasts team for budget blowout days into The Block 2026

We’re officially one whole week into The Block 2026 and Scott and Shelley already have the teams second-guessing themselves.

This week’s walkarounds frazzled almost every team as Scott and Shelley shared their thoughts on the guest bedroom progress, but it was Courtney and Sev who copped the brunt of Scotty’s wrath.

This week, the hosts had some exciting news to share with contestants. Not only was there $10,000 up for grabs for the best room, but there was an additional $10,000 heading for the team with the best budget.

But there was one caveat, the teams had to provide the estimate of their budget on the spot. And Scott wasn’t too happy when he heard Courtney and Sev’s.

Having not looked at the budget until Scott and Shelley were stood in front of them, Courtney quickly did some calculations before landing at a whopping $18,100.

“You can’t afford to do that,” Scotty told them.

“You’ve got an estimate of $10,000 and if you spend $20,000; you’ll only last about five weeks.”

But, the girls stuck to their guns saying their strategy was to spend big, take home the win for the week, and take house four for themselves.

“We’ll just have to stay positive and get us where we need to and fingers crossed come 9am Sunday, Scotty will be like, ‘Oh, you proved me wrong’,” said Sev.

While Lisa and Rosco got off Scott-free having had a prepared Google sheet with their budget ready to go, the rest of the teams found themselves in a similar, although not quite as dire, situation as Courtney and Sev.

Rick and Tayla admitted they’d done “no budgeting” but gave a cool estimate of around $5,000. Adam and Jolene “plucked a number out of our butts” with a guess of $9,100. And Chantel and Wyatt took a stab in the dark with an oddly specific cost of $8,966.33.

The aftermath of Scott and Shelley’s visit saw Jolene lose her cool as she explained she felt she’d been made to look a fool when asked a question she didn’t have a prepared answer for.

“I definitely can be hot headed,” she said.

“Especially if I feel like I’m backed into a corner. I probably don’t have a lot of confidence so I guess that’s my shield. So, I do struggle with that.”

And while Scott and Shelley left Jolene second-guessing herself, they left Chantel second-guessing her whole design for the room.
