Buy a piece of New York's Waldorf Astoria

If you’re a fan of all things New York, you’re going to want to peep the once-in-a-lifetime Waldorf Astoria sale, which includes marble mantle pieces and gold gilt chandeliers from the iconic Manhattan hotel.
After closing the midtown mainstay for renovations last year, new owners Anbang Insurance Group (or, perhaps it's the Chinese government) plan to restore the Waldorf – which was built in 1931 – to its former art deco glory.
And it looks like they may need a large cash injection to do so, with items such as silverware, venetian glass and crystal light fixtures, chandeliers and marble mantle pieces up for grabs for a pretty penny.
Barovier & Toso Venetian Glass Fixture; AUD $35, 800
15 Light Brass Foliage Chandelier; AUD $8690
Bronze Floral Tie Back; AUD $63
New York’s Landmarks Preservation Commission granted landmark status to the hotel’s grand ballroom, an entry hall, and the main lobby in March, 2017. Olde Good Things – the company running the historic sale – removed saleable items from the hotel’s guest rooms.
The Waldorf has long been synonymous with glitz and glamour. Marilyn Monroe lived in the hotel for six months in 1955, and numerous films and TV shows have been filmed in its decadent halls.
