Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson sell neighbouring homes

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have sold two neighbouring homes they owned in Los Angeles for $23 million.

The couple listed the side-by-side homes as a set almost a year ago and their patience has been rewarded with a single buyer snapping up both properties for close to the asking price.

Tom and Rita purchased the homes separately in 2003 and 2007 for a total of $13 million, so have also made quite the tidy profit on the neighbouring Pacific Palisades homes.

The larger of the two homes has seven bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms and a home theatre. The smaller Spanish style home has four bedrooms. Both properties have magnificent views of the mountains and canyons.

Even after offloading these two homes, Tom and Rita still have a large property portfolio with quite a number of other houses in Pacific Palisades.
