Mum reveals easy DIY for natural toilet bombs that clean and deodorise your bathroom

Cleaning the toilet is one of those household chores people hate, despite being a relatively small space to tackle.

However, one mum has come up with a cheap and simple way to freshen up your toilet bowl quickly and naturally. Plus, if used regularly it could make weekly cleaning routine so much easier.

Chantel Mila, a favourite on social media for home hacks on her account @mama_mila_, has detailed her DIY toilet cleaner bomb recipe on TikTok.

As the name suggests, the toilet cleaner bombs act in a similar way to bath bombs by fizzing apart when they hit the water.

The best part is you only need three ingredients to make it, and they may already be hiding in your kitchen cupboards. If not they can easily be found in the baking section of the supermarket.

Chantel explained in the video that all you need is a cup of bicarb soda, a quarter cup of citric acid and 10 drops of essential oil.

"Spray with water until it feels like sand," she wrote in the caption.

When the mix is of the sandy consistency, push it into a mould — like a silicone icecube tray — and wait for it to set.

"Bicarb soda is powerful at removing odours. Citric acid is a natural disinfectant," Chantel explained in the comments.

When the mixture has set, pop the bomb out of the mould and place into the toilet bowl to clean and deodorise.

The bombs can be added to your regular cleaning routine and used before scrubbing the bowl, or you could drop them in a few days later to keep the space fresher in between cleans.

If you're really struggling with brown sludge that seems to be caked onto the bottom of the bowl, it's probably hard water stains.
