‘Why are we doing all of their work?’

The contestants have bonded over the Challenge Apartment renovation and one thing in particular that has unified them is when they need to carry materials up or down the stairs. As a combined force, they charge through the task and usually celebrate with hugs all around afterwards.
Hayden has previously copped flak for not digging deep and helping during these impromptu bonding sessions. The last time he was needed, even his wife pleaded with him to chip in, but Hayden was busy in conversation on his phone.
So, when a bunch of plaster boards needed moving, it was no surprise to anyone that Hayden was nowhere to be seen.
“All teams came downstairs and helped… including a lot of our trades,” confirmed Courtney. “There’s one person missing,” Bianca pointed out. “It’s pretty obvious.”
Hayden.
“He was watching his tradies,” said Courtney sarcastically. “Your wife’s out here helping, where are you?”
The teams dutifully carried up all the piles of gyprock… minus one stack. No prizes for guessing who it belonged to.
The argument begins…
“Can we start getting our ones up?” asked Sara hopefully. The pair have a lot of sheets of gyprock this week, given the amount of space they have to deliver this week.
Her request was met with silence and a few quietly muttered expletives. Finally, Hans had enough. “If Hayden starts lifting them up, maybe,” he said bluntly.
Sara was instantly defensive. “I’m here, I’m helping. That’s good enough!” she said. Hans – and everyone else – didn’t agree, pointing out everyone else had both team members present, and a few tradies too. “Where’s Hayden?” Hans queried.
“I’m not gonna put up with that!” a fiery Sara shot back. “We’ve got a room that’s ten times the size of yours. We need help! Act like a team player!”
Hans, wrestling with a giant sheet of gyprock, guffawed at that suggestion. “That’s rich, Sara!”
Hearing the kerfuffle, Norm asked what was going on and Hans explained what Sara wanted. “Well, tell Hayden to get down here and give us a hand!” Norm exploded, to which Hans laughed and replied that’s precisely what he had done.
“It’s a bit petty,” said Hayden gruffly.
Keith turns zen (yes, really)
As things rapidly escalated, Keith stepped in. He reminded them both they were outside on the street during a public holiday and none of the neighbours would appreciate their raised voices.
“It’s not the end of the world, let’s just chill out. Simple as that,” he said.
Keith, the zen peacemaker and Hayden, helping the group? In news just in – it appears hell has indeed frozen over!
