Rick and Tayla were feeling confident this week except for one minor detail - they didn’t quite finish. Even if the judges can see their vision, will it be enough?

Rick and Tayla have scored one of the largest outdoor spaces on The Block. So, while they’ve got more room to play with, it also means they’ve got a lot more work to do.

Sadly for the father-daughter duo, the work was a little too much for their team this week and their outdoor terrace and pool space wasn’t completed. But Rick and Tayla went in hoping the judges would see their vision.

Immediatley, the judges were beyond impressed by the stone. “That’s probably my favourite stone today,” Marty said.

Darren was impressed by the colour palette, saying the the stone and wood combined with the tiles and benches created a real “harmonious” feel.

However, Marty was a bit taken aback by the size of the TV. “That’s too big,” he said. But, he came around after Shaynna explained that it was designed to watch the footy while lounging in the pool.

The judges also said they were glad that the duo hadn’t fixed the tiles to the wall yet, saying it actually works better without them. “I think that’s what’s jarring is the fact that the TV is over the tile, it doesn’t look right,” Marty said.

Shaynna loved the lighting and the fan that matched the ceiling. Plus, the heater and the sound system. According to the judges, the entertaining area was completely decked out.

But, Marty would have appreciated some more seating on the upper deck, explaining that a nice lounge with the backdrop of the stone would work perfectly.

The judges said that having the sun lounges jammed in amongst the couches was “weird” with Darren suggesting that maybe they had thought to put the sun lounges on the upper deck, but hadn’t been able to because they didn’t get it finished.

Shaynna thought that for entertaining purposes, it would be best to move the bar table down to the pool and the dining table onto the deck with the barbeque and kitchenette. But Tayla explained one simple reason why that wouldn’t work.
