Room Reveal: Courtney and Sev’s Outdoor Terrace and Pool
They have the biggest outdoor area of all the houses, but a so-called ‘cow grate’ in the middle of their deck had the judges scratching their heads.
Courtney and Sev have had a good run with wins, and they were hoping that they could bag another one with their massive outdoor area.

Marty Fox, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer were immediately impressed with the size of the girls’ outdoor area, with Marty even going so far as to say: “This is everything!”

Darren said he could totally understand why the girls chose House 4 after seeing how much amenity and lifestyle they’d packed into the space.

Unfortunately, as Shaynna pointed out, the deck wasn’t quite finished. There were a few screws missing that left the wooden deck looking a little lacklustre, but the judges could see the vision the team had.

She did love that the whole pool is on display the second you step outside. “This is the first house where you walk out from the rumpus and all you see is the pool,” she said.

“But then on your peripheral, we have the best high-end kitchen outdoor barbecue,” she added. Marty said the girls had totally nailed the dining space and the architectural elements surrounding it.

Unfortunately, the bar table let it down. It was just that bit too high for the space, which led Shaynna to wonder if it was meant to be sculptural or functional.

Another element she didn’t love: this so-called “cow grate”. She and Marty agreed it looks like a drain at the moment, though Darren said it could work if it was moved to the side of the house, rather than the middle of the deck.

Fortunately, all three of the judges loved the pool area and entertaining space tucked to the side. According to Scotty Cam, they even called it a “million dollar backyard”.

“It’s beautiful and I think the girls have done an incredible job, and I feel really sad for them that they haven’t finished because it’s a knockout,” Shaynna said. Apart from the unfinished decking boards, it would have been a 10 from her.
