Episode 7 recap: Courtney accuses rivals of being ‘dirty players’ after deal goes wrong

Great news – today starts with all five teams on board!

After yesterday’s budget drama, Chantel and Wyatt are back and need to play catch-up.

It’s Family Bathroom week which means Waterproof … Tuesday. Because of this year’s shortened working hours, the goal is to have waterproofing done a day earlier than we’ve seen in the past.

But House 2 has lost an entire day, House 3’s waterproofer/tiler has very little hope of finishing on time and House 4 doesn’t have any tradies.

Good start!

Real reason Chantel and Wyatt were ‘hell-bent’ on leaving after Block budget blunder

From deleted doors to sliders to a bathroom that requires you to walk through a separate toilet to exit (that could get awkward!) – the solutions are creative and time-consuming.

That, plus a painting lesson and a mandatory trip to Cosentino, means Tuesday comes and goes quickly.

With absolutely no waterproofing to be seen.

So yes, we’re back to Waterproof Wednesday. Hello, old friend.

House 1 starts the day with a leak. There’s only one completed room in the whole home and that’s the one with water pouring through its downlights.

Thankfully it’s an easy fix – a water valve was ever so slightly open before being turned on for pressure testing – so after drinking far too much water from his hands, Adam can get back to the room that’s meant to be wet.

Of course, we’ve all gotten to know the Blockheads by now. Or have we?

Adam’s been keeping a secret: he completed his Certificate IV Building & Construction. Uh, 20 years ago.

That’s two decades of very helpful experience to draw from. I can’t explain the samurai outfit, though.

Courtney and Sev finally lock in tradies to help them waterproof, but it’s going to be difficult to make progress while their screed is sopping wet.

And as much as Courtney doesn’t want to concede it, their hard-fought decision to change their skylights on Monday is the most likely cause – letting in rain while the Velux team switched it out.

Waiting for that to dry puts them behind, but perhaps it’s balanced out by a cheeky switcheroo?

They successfully argue floor plan changes they’ve made mean that part of this week’s work actually belongs to the hallway.

It’s a win today! Perhaps not so much come Hallway Week!

In House 3, their already very sceptical tiler Reese is becoming less convinced at finishing by the second.

An insurance problem doesn’t help and ultimately, he decides it’s not going to be possible.

He’s out of here!

“What an absolute nightmare,” Rosco reacts.

But it’s Courtney to the rescue.

With their waterproofing delayed, she offers a trade: her waterproofing team for House 3’s chippies.

Against all odds, Chantel and Wyatt have pulled the most ahead – and gain even more goodwill with the team by successfully asking Foreman Dan for extended hours to complete waterproofing.

Episode 6 recap: Scott Cam makes heartfelt apology after major production mistake has one team packing their bags

However, this doesn’t benefit Courtney and Sev.

Not only can they not start waterproofing, but they are yet to see the chippies Rosco promised them.

They instead say they’ll come to help in the morning, leaving House 4 to shut down early while everyone else keeps going.

“It’s a competition, they snaked me,” Courtney fumes.

“They’re dirty players, and it’s good to know these things nice and early.”

Finally, just to really up the stakes for the week, Scott Cam calls everyone to HQ to meet Rob Sinclair from e&s.

For the second season in a row, he is offering a kitchen upgrade package to one team. This week’s winners will gain $250,000 worth of appliances for kitchen and laundry.

Britt and Taz won the upgrade last year and went on to win The Block.

Hey, what’s another bit of pressure!
