Episode 43 recap: Scott Cam makes huge call as tension over sharehouse comes to a head: ‘No alternative’

Ahhhh, another beautiful morning in the Block sharehouse.

Or not.

Adam‘s son Kai, his mate Nick and Rosco’s dad Jimbo are all crashing in the group accommodation and the patience of a few Blockheads is wearing thin.

“I just don’t want more boys doing shits in my toilet,” Tayla explains.

Lovely.

This, plus tension over wine cellars, car detailing kits and the only access to House 2’s front yard being through House 1’s … we are one snarky remark away from it all blowing up, I can feel it.

But first, let’s sing?

This week’s challenge is Cheryoke, where the teams must write and perform a song about their Block experience.

Block alumni Eliza and Liberty will tomorrow do their best Simon Cowell impressions to award the best performance with $10,000.

And boy do they have their work cut out for them!

OK, back to the problem(s) at hand.

House 3 has laid concrete over its stormwater pipe before it could be capped off.

Rosco’s dad Jimbo is ordered to dig it up, which he does with only a few hundred sarcastic remarks about how much fun he’s having.

In House 4, Courtney and Sev have purposely stirred the pot by emailing a supplier and pretending Jolene referred them – when she very much didn’t.

“I think the girls need to f--- off and get their own ideas,” she complains.

And then there is the extra housemate drama, which Courtney and Sev worry is also providing other teams an unfair advantage on site.

That’s more than enough for a body corporate meeting!

Courtney and Sev air their grievances about the extra helping hands, but Chantel says she also feels uncomfortable about them living in the sharehouse.

Rosco’s dad is leaving on Friday, but Adam’s son and his friend are sticking around until the end of the competition.

And just like that, the meeting is over … but without a resolution.

Sooo … fast forward to our frostiest sharehouse evening yet as Adam calls Rick and Tayla “gutless” and Jolene snaps after one too many toilet jokes.

Meanwhile, Chantel believes that production should never have approved three extra bodies in the house.

But she also doesn’t think it should be her responsibility to solve the problem.

Enter: Scotty Cam.

He really doesn’t mince words, telling both Lisa and Rosco and Adam that Chantel is “uncomfortable” with the living arrangements.

“Because she’s said that, we’ve got no alternative,” he says. There is no other option but to have the trio move out.

Adam smiles through his frustration.

“Everyone has their reasons. They do know though, I’ve got their access to their backyard don’t they?” he says with a chuckle.

Meanwhile, Lisa is “pissed off”, so much so she drags Chantel down to House 5 to hash it all out with Rick.

Chantel feels like she’s been made the issues “scapegoat” and wants to prove that it’s not just her that has a problem with the guests – and also that it isn’t personal.

“I just feel like now everyone’s going to attack me,” she cries.

“I just feel like the wrath of Jolene is approaching.”

She’s right about that, but for now, it’s directed elsewhere.

Courtney and Sev’s enormous wine cellar has arrived, and it sends Jolene into a spiral.

After such a dramatic day, Lisa organises a group dinner date in an attempt to bring back the happy family vibes of … I’m not sure, week one?

Chantel and Wyatt give it a miss, as do Adam’s son Kai and friend Nick.

But there are still plenty of opinionated people present to kick things off!

Adam says everyone sat back and let Chantel get them kicked out, which Rick takes issue with.

“If I rocked up with two of my mates without telling you guys, how do you think Jolene would’ve reacted? She would’ve gone off her f---ing head,” he says, to a chorus of “fair” from Courtney and Sev.

When Jolene brings up being intimidated by Wyatt weeks earlier, Courtney – who was secretly watching the whole thing play out after helping Wyatt snoop – pushes back on her version of events.

“I am allowed to feel how I feel,” Jolene says.

Tomorrow night, there is thankfully a resolution to a least one of those disagreements – yay! – and we finally wrap our poor ears around those Cheryoke tunes.

It might pay to pack earplugs in your tool belt!
