Episode 14 recap: Courtney has an on-site medical episode, and judge Darren Palmer clarifies his controversial design advice

It is the start of week four – surely the Blockheads are well and truly in the swing of things now.
Maybe?
Mood. Nine
As always, the week begins with Open for Inspections and let’s be honest, all anyone is wondering if whether the judges’ harsh “high-end coffin” comments are accurate.
And, well, everyone thinks they are.
“It would be a really nice place to … die,” Adam says.
Lisa and Rosco’s winning bedroom gets a pretty underwhelming reception, but the wardrobe receives lots of gushing.
You know, the part of the space they didn’t actually design.
Chantel even reckons it’s what pushed them over the line to win, which is probably not what they nor its OG designers, Courtney and Sev, want to hear.
This week is all about completing the main suite by working on the ensuite.
Lisa has big plans to back up their win, featuring crazy tile flooring and a double shower.
At Beaumont, she’s told the flooring won’t be possible. So she asks again … until it is possible.
Back on site, Foreman Dan tells Rosco that their shower plan is not possible because they aren’t allowed to delete the bathroom window.
So he calls Lisa who asks again … and this time, persistence does not pay off.
“They’ve got to put on their big person’s pants and deal with it, that’s a direct quote,” Dan says over the phone.
And then Rosco plays a loud fart sound over the speakerphone.
It’s a bold move while speaking to his stressed, pregnant and hormonal wife. I applaud his bravery.
That turns out to be far from the only issue.
Lisa also wants microcement in their shower, which Rosco and Dan both disagree with.
Unlike their neighbours, House 2 has already achieved something this week: Wyatt’s grown an OK moustache.
Chantel doesn’t really like it, but Dan does. And that’s what really matters.
Oh, and their bathroom progress is good too.
Wyatt moustache Dan a question. Nine
In House 4, Courtney’s heart condition is causing her some grief.
She has supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), which causes a very fast or erratic heartbeat, and it’s flared up.
Courtney says her heart rate can rise to 230 beats per minute. Nine
“I’m not embarrassed by having SVT, but it can be embarrassing when I can’t talk and function as a normal human when it’s happening,” she explains.
“And the thought of being on a job site surrounded by men and having to call an ambulance, you know, you don’t want to be embarrassed or look weak.”
She takes herself off to the bathroom and calls Lisa, who is a paramedic.
Lisa isn’t on-site, but she talks her through it. Thankfully, she gets it under control and there’s no need to call an ambulance.
Sev becomes emotional as Courtney recounts the episode.
“I know why she didn’t tell me – she didn’t want to stress me out, she didn’t want to stress anyone around her out,” she cries.
“But it sucks.” Nine
Lisa and Rosco head out on their winners’ getaway but rather than being excited about the luxe night away, Rosco’s stressed about how much he has to do.
Like … really stressed.
Straight up not having a good time. Nine
They arrive at Alba Thermal Springs and Spa, and Lisa points out that everyone else is having a relaxing day.
“Yeah, because they’re not building a house,” he says.
I mean, fair.
Luckily, it’s nothing a massage can’t fix. Even if that massage requires the wearing of very tight, mostly see-through women’s underwear, for reasons that are never actually explained.
This has taken a weird turn. Nine
Meanwhile the rest of the Blockheads are fully dressed and ready to welcome a visitor – Darren Palmer!
He’s come to apologise.
Well, not really.
But he has come to expand on his light, white and bright, Kim Kardashian advice from episode one.
Basically: stop being scared of colour, especially in smaller, non-communal spaces in the house.
Perhaps we’ll even see a green cushion when we see next week’s living and dining rooms! Gasp!
Tomorrow night, it’s all the wet-week goodness: tradie issues, waterproofing issues, tears – even GMac with his hand over his mouth.
See you there!
