Aussie mum uses clever hack to remove pen stains from couch

Every parent can relate to the frustration of returning to find your furniture covered in pen by your younger one.

But this Aussie mum instantly got into proactive mode, and consulted the Mums Who Clean Facebook forum for some expert tips on how to remove the pen stains.

Posting a picture of her couch to the cleaning community, the mum was inundated with responses on how to remove the stain.

Chrystie Williams tells 9Honey Homes that it wasn’t long before she discovered the ultimate solution to her relatable problem.

Chrystie concocted her own formula to abolish the mess, and was delighted that the combination worked wonders on her beloved sofa.

Her secret was a simple combination of tea tree oil, water and a decent scrub of the area.  

"I've been using it for a while. I also use it on my rug when there is food that's been dropped. I find after I scrub that spot it turns up cleaner than the rest of the rug." she tells Homes.

"It's just something I tried once and it's always worked really well."

While some members of the group joked that she should toss her couch into the bin, others had their own ideas.

“Lemon grass essential oils removed pen and permanent marker” one woman suggested.

“Alcohol rub got it off my couch when my daughter did this” another suggested.
