Kyal & Kara's styling tips: Add some magic to your bedroom

For Kyal and Kara, reno superstars and former The Block participants, there's one room in the house where we probably spend way more time than we think.

"Did you know that the average person spends roughly 26 years of their life sleeping?" asks Kara. "That's a long time to spend in the bedroom."

It's important, then, that you make your bedroom a place where you can truly relax, so we asked this dynamic duo for some of their top suggestions for creating a stylish and calming space.

Start with: A good foundation

A sheet set in a neutral colour is a perfect starting point. Kyal recommends this one from Gioia Casa, in a natural washed colour. To contrast, Kara suggests the label's khaki quilt cover set. "It's light and breathable and it has a beautiful vintage wash through it."

Add: A contrast to style it up

Throw an extra hue into the mix with a feature cushion, such as this linen one, pre-washed for extra softness and durability, and giving an expert finishing touch. "It's really easy to style with, and it works in almost every bedroom," Kyal explains.

Next: Light it up

Don't forget that lamps can add the right amount of extra ambience. Kara likes this Amalfi Table Lamp. "With its sleek silhouette and neutral colour palette, it really is a timeless piece that can be used for any bedroom look."

Finish with: A textural touch.

Lastly, an eye-catching throw is a great way to add another element to a room. "It offers a nice, relaxed look with its neutral tone," Kara adds.

Sticking with neutrals and natural tones, with some clever pops of colour, is one way to create a calm space, the pair advise. "Make your bedroom a place you love to be in," Kara emphasises.
