Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Street, on the hunt for Brisbane home

After listing his $4.5 million Long Island mansion for sale last week, Jordan Belfort, the Wolf of Wall Street, who found new fame after his party-hard lifestyle was portrayed by Leonardo di Caprio, is reportedly house luxury hunting in Brisbane.

According to reports from Domain, Place Agents managing director Sarah Hackett has confirmed Belfort inspected a property at 58 Retreat Street, Bridgeman Downs.

The luxury estate, which sits on one hectare land, features a swimming pool, tennis court, and a double-height ceiling games room — which is currently home to a collection of mounted taxidermy. 

The luxurious four-bedroom mansion was sold on March 31 for just under $5 million. 

Bridgeman Downs is described in the listing as Brisbane's "answer to the prestigious US East Coast enclave of the Hamptons." 

According to report by The Wall Street Journal in The Wall Street Journal in , Belfort moved to Australia to avoid repaying the victims of his penny stocks pump-and-dump scheme. The US attorney for the Eastern District of New York Robert Nardoza was quoted in the article saying that he was using Australia as a loophole to avoid paying.

The claim was later retracted by WSJ. 

Belfort spent 22 months in prison for the crimes, which he pleaded guilty in the 1990s, and is required to repay millions of dollars to his victims, the exact number is unconfirmed but some reports suggest it's around US$100 million.
