A screenshot of a text exchange between Bruce, a landlord, and his tenant, has gone viral for all the right reasons.

At a time when reports are being released about rental horror stories and renters' lack of rights, it's not only the type of story we deserve -- it's the story we need.

"It is clear in the lease: no pets are allowed in the apt. sorry," the text exchange begins. Not looking good, right?

The tenant then shoots back a photo of their cat, smiling.

"OK I will make an exception because he looks very polite," responds Bruce.
