The decor hack sweeping Instagram that's cheap, chic and versatile

There are some trends that polarise, and others that might look nice but aren't functional for the real world. Then every so often a trend just works, and the latest interior decor hack sweeping Instagram is one such example we can get behind.

Using crates is no new thing, but what about pastel pink crates from Evian? Oh yes, the high-end water brand is said to deliver it's bottled aqua to Europeans in the on-trend, Insta-worthy millennial shade.

Europeans have been utilising the crates for all sorts of purposes with some giving them a little DIY treatment -- and Instagram is loving it. Below is a selection of our favourite images showing you the ways the humble crate is making a comeback.

They're being re-puprosed in all sorts of cute and clever ways, like as a magazine and plant holder that also adds a pop of colour to a neutral scheme:

Or with a little DIY, a wooden top transforms the crate into your new bedside table.

The crates are light yet durable, and versatile enough to move around and use as extra storage or seating.

But it seems that these crates are in high demand; there are many Europeans trying to get their hands on them, too. You can even find whole blog posts dedicated to where people found theirs.

There is also a pastel turquoise floating around that is equally, if not more, appealing.

One crafty individual even used it as a gift hamper for their friend. I would not be complaining if someone gifted me one of these bad boys:

You could also leave it as is, honing in on its original use: as a bottle holder. Only, this person swapped water for wine.

It seems these are only available in Europe, but maybe with a little noise we can get these beauties on our shores. Alternatively, a little bit of pastel paint goes a long way.
