24 reasons why this bargain item will change the way you organise your home

If you've been splashing cash on storage boxes and fancy organising systems you could be wasting your money. According to one TikTok user, an affordable wire dish rack is all you need to store everything from baking paper to trays, video games and thongs.

India Simmons, who goes by the name @capture_india on TikTok, showed about 24 different ways to use the dish rack for storage across three different videos.

Purchased in the US store Dollar Tree, the rack looks more like a plate holder or file storage than something you'd dry your dishes on. The closest options in Australia to the dish rack India is using is this $7 file holder from Kmart and this wire kitchen organiser from Howard's Storage World for $12.95.

In part one of India's tips, which has been watched more than 61,000 times, she used the rack for several kitchen items. First up she used it for cling wrap and baking paper, then small trays and large trays.

Next she showed how you can even use it for freezer products like frozen veggies or in the wardrobe as bag and shoe organiser.

India didn't just show how to use the rack horizontally, she flipped it up to make wrapping paper and video game storage.

To use the dish rack in even more ways you'll need to hack it by bending the wire arms slightly. She shared how to do this in part two, which has been viewed 52,000 times.

Once you've done that you could store pot lids, children's artwork, mail, cookbooks, rolled up hand towels and hats.

If that's not enough, in her part three video India suggests adding suction cups to the rack so you can attach it to the bottom of a cupboard and use it as hanging storage. This change allows you to store things like drink bottles, sponges and towels.
