Heritage horrors up ahead?

Fans of previous seasons of The Block may have heard the word ‘heritage’ tossed around in reference to the houses this year and immediately had terror-inducing flashbacks to the drama and difficulties that came with heritage homes on The Block: All Stars . Rest assured, these houses aren’t governed by the same strict limitations those ones were.
The primary difference is that the homes on All Stars were heritage-listed, but while they are old and feature heritage characteristics, this year’s houses were destined for the scrap heap (and not officially listed as heritage). That means that any changes are totally permissible - but our judges may have some feelings about what those changes should involve. Each of them are notoriously passionate about respecting the “bones” and history of a home, and so stripping out all the characteristics of the classic homes might just backfire.
