Decorative lattice wall

Materials

• Paint
• Paintbrush
• Paint roller
• 1.8m x 90cm diagonal, treated-pine lattice with rounded edges
• Self-drilling screws
• Cordless drill
• Measuring tape
• Saw
• Picture rail timber (2.4m) and skirting board timber (3.6m)

Instructions

Using your choice of paint colour and a roller, paint the wall to which the lattice will be attached. Leave it to dry.

Get someone to help you hold your lattice in place on the wall while you screw it into position, using self-drilling screws and a cordless drill.

Using a saw, cut a piece of picture rail and a piece of skirting board to the same width as the lattice.

Using a paintbrush, paint the lattice. While it dries, paint the picture rail and the skirting board.

Once the rail and the skirting are dry, screw them to the top and the bottom of the lattice. Paint the screws to match the wall colour.

Alternatively, if you don't want to screw your lattice to the wall, you can make a freestanding panel by attaching lattice capping (from the hardware store) along each side of the lattice. Screw the capping in place and paint it to match the wall colour. Lean the lattice up against the wall to create a similar look. Smart and useful!
