There's a calculator that works out how much toilet paper you need for quarantine

Toilet paper is worth its weight in gold right now.

If you're sitting on a mountain of it you're set for two weeks in quarantine — probably a lot longer than you need — but if you're wondering how long your stash will last, there is a way.

The Coronavirus Toilet Paper Calculator estimates when you'll run out and will hopefully ease the urge to panic buy and give a lot of us reassurance that we already have enough.

Obviously people have been going nuts and stockpiling toilet paper due to the coronavirus threat, but this simple online calculator might be enough to calm everyone down.

It takes into account the number of rolls you have and the visits to the bathroom you make during a day. When you factor in self-isolation and working from home your toilet trips might be a bit more frequent than usual.

But it also features some advanced settings to give you the most accurate reading. The extra data you can add in includes your average wipes per trip, people in your household and sheets on each roll.

My partner and I recently returned from overseas, which means we're in quarantine anyway because of our travel. We're also both working from home.

Despite that, with the toilet paper we still have from before we went away, we will last another 15 days on the amount we have. This is also if we started quarantine today, which should be another layer of reassurance that things will be fine.

The genius program was created by London-based student software developer Ben Sassoon and artist Sam Harris.
