Mum reveals how to clean burnt rice off the bottom of a saucepan with 'no scrubbing'

One mother hit up online cleaning community Mums Who Clean to ask for help after she burnt rice in her saucepan — and the results are impressive.

"Hi mums, I burnt the rice and the bottom of our pot is stained and scrubbing doesn’t seem to work. Any ideas?" she asked.

It's a sentiment many of us know all too well. Our stainless steel pots are constantly being scorched and stained, and it can take a lot of elbow grease to get them sparkling again.

When the mum did the callout the responses rolled in (over 70 of them).

"Throw some salt in it and fill with water, let it soak overnight," one responder wrote.

Another suggested she "soak in vinegar" while others thought bicarb soda needed to be thrown in the mix.

But there was one method that began to be recommended over and over: "Put a dishwashing tablet in the bottom and cover with boiling hot water. Leave over night and it requires zero scrubbing."

Others didn't even feel it necessary to leave overnight: "Boil dishwashing tablet and water. This works and no scrubbing required."

In fact, whether it was a dishwashing tablet, or sprinkling dishwashing powder, the trick seemed to be very popular. And this is exactly the hack this mum tried.
