Scott Cam announces the return of the Domain Super Power and how it could determine The Block 2022 winner

The teams competing on The Block all hope to get the best results come auction day and ultimately win the show. So it's no surprise that the auction order plays a pivotal role in determining the success of the day.

Luckily, Blockheads have the opportunity to choose the auction order with the return of the Domain Super Power in 2022.

During the Winners are Grinners dinner, Scott Cam and Alice Stolz from Domain made the exciting announcement.

"Points that you earn every Sunday night from the judges is not just about winning rooms, it could actually win you The Block as well," Scotty said.

"Each and every point goes to your tally... and the team that has the most points, after 12 weeks, will get the Domain Super Power."

With the auction order up for grabs, Alice added that it could set them up for success in winning The Block.

"These are the true superpowers that I'd imagine you want to get to give you the upper hand," she said.

The winner will also grace the coveted Domain magazine cover.

Scotty finished by telling the contestants to be consistent each week and earn as many points they can from the judges to gain the superpower, before revealing who held the top spot at the moment.

Dylan and Jenny felt confident sitting on top of the leaderboard, while Ankur and Sharon took the bottom spot. 

"To see that we've got the most points and we haven't actually won yet is amazing, so we're hoping to do better and better," Jenny told the camera.

And we've seen just how powerful auction order can be from past seasons.

In 2021, Ronnie and Georgia won the auction power and showed how the decision can go one or two ways. They made the risky decision going under the hammer first, their house sold for $3,696,000, making them $296,000 profit. While they won an insane amount of money, their fellow contestants ended up with higher profits.

In season 16, winners Jimmy and Tam won the power and elected to go second. That decision worked in their favour and House 5 sold for an eye-watering $4,256,000, earning them a profit of $966,000 and the $100,000 prize on top of that.
