Exclusive: The Block host Scott Cam confirms he is not leaving the series

It's official – Scott Cam has no plans to leave The Block, now or in the future.

The long-time host of the series was stunned when he heard rumours had popped up that he was planning to step away from the building site.

But speaking at The Block's launch event in Melbourne on Thursday, Scotty, 60, told 9Entertainment the rumours are "not true" and he's already signed a long term deal.

"Look, I know there's been some rumors floating around that I am leaving The Block and my beloved Nine Network," he began.

"Unfortunately for those who might want to see the back of me, a couple of months ago I signed a long term deal. We're ready to go!"

He continued with a smile: "I know I'm old, we're gonna keep going!

“I love the building process - you come to a 1950s home that Nanna moved out of yesterday and end up with something spectacular three months later. That's what I love about The Block.”

With an impressive 17 seasons under his tool belt (and a Gold Logie tucked away too), Scott thrives on the constant variety the show delivers.

"The Block keeps me excited just being The Block. It's like our set changes every year," he added. "The conditions change, the weather changes – everything is changing."

He added that this year families watching at home will be able to see themselves in the houses the Blockheads are working on.

"We're upsizing family homes and they're next level. It will be an inspiration for families watching at home – what they can achieve and maybe something they can do to their own home,” Scott said.

Scott recently said that the upcoming season on Melbourne's Charming Street in Hampton East was a pleasure to work on, and further fuelled everything he enjoys about the show.

"I have really enjoyed this year," he added. "It was a really tough series for everyone involved last year, for no other reason than the weather and the mud.

"The Block is tough on everyone, but for me this one is a little bit less stressful."

The upcoming season will see a range of fresh changes, with contestants given the full schedule and shown the planned final exteriors of their homes, well before they start swinging a hammer.

With five different couples undertaking the challenge, Scott admits things are always intense, but filming and building always creates a unique experience.

"Day one, the contestants are part of our Block family," he says. "There are no ifs and buts about it, we care about them and we want them to have a good time along the journey as well."

Something Scott plans on doing for a long time to come!
