Teams faced the notorious 'Hell Week' once again, taking on the mammoth task of renovating their hallways, laundries, powder rooms and mudrooms in just a week.

The reality of how big and difficult the week is was clear during Sunday night's Room Reveals because not a single team managed to finish off every space in time for judging.

And while every room had flaws and unfinished areas, it was House 4's Dylan and Jenny who managed to score the win – their first of the season – impressing judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whitaker with their huge hallway and beautifully decorated laundry and mudroom.

Here are the top five features in Dylan and Jenny's Hallway, Laundry and Mudroom:

1. Grand hallway

Dylan and Jenny had the longest hallway out of all of the houses, measuring a total of 40 metres. The judges thought the huge space was grand, traditional but not dated.

"It's got all the period-esque details, but it feels crisp and modern," Darren pointed out during judging.

Neale called the space "extraordinary" and a great entrance to introduce guests into the home.

Darren agreed, adding: "We have a sense of entrance appeal in what is otherwise a big long rectangle."

Shaynna was impressed by the sheer size of the hallway.

"You could play Boxing Day cricket down here," she said. "This is the longest hallway I think I've ever seen."

While the space was huge, it didn't feel bare or like it was lacking anything – other than perfectly finished details – and really made House 4 feel like a home from the moment when you walk in the door.

In the breezeway section of their home, Dylan and Jenny opted to make the most of a huge window with a spectacular view of the Macedon Ranges.

Not only was the view great, but House 4's execution of the setup was simple yet spectacular. They added two grey occasional chairs and a cosy rug to the area, which Shaynna loved.

Shaynna found comfort in the fact that House 4 included two sinks in their laundry and mudroom.

"Wow, we've got two sinks in here!" she beamed. "A sink in the mud room, and a sink in the laundry."

But moving into the laundry and mudroom, the couple were praised for their consistent use of sage green in their cabinetry. The cohesive design flows from the butler's pantry though the laundry and into the mudroom which creates some real wow factor.
