For the first time on The Block, host Scott Cam is also picking up the tools to renovate an old home at the same time as contestants.

But that's not the only first hitting The Block in 2022. Australia's very first 3D-printed house is being created by a huge 3D printer on site.

This new technology will build Scotty's cabana, but will be used as a Block Shop for the time being.

"Who knew you could 3D print a house... We are literally part of history," Omar said.

"First time done in the southern hemisphere outdoors," Ryan revealed.

Printed buildings is the work of a company called Contour 3D. Their gigantic 3D printer is the first of its kind in Australia and it's building Scotty a pool cabana.

The cabana will feature a bathroom, luxurious entertainment spaces and even a bar.

While it might look complex and confusing, Scotty believes it's simple.

"Using the highest technology, these nozzles guided by the map coordinates of my cabana design lay layer-by-layer of the toughest cement," he revealed.

He sent a skeptical Foreman Keith to inspect how his build was going so far.

"I can't get over how strong this is," Keith said about the cement wall.

With his first inspection a success, Keith had a change of heart over the whole 3D printing concept.

"I'm starting to believe this is gonna happen, I thought you were pulling my leg. I thought it was a load of crap, but it is real, and it is fantastic," he confessed.

With Keith persuaded over the high-tech printer, it will be interesting to see how the completed cabana turns out!
