'Didn't like him': MAFS star Martha Kalifatidis' mum Mary shares her very honest first impression of Michael Brunelli

As far as in-laws go it seems that Married At First Sight's Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli have the perfect set-up.

The couple currently live with Martha's parents in Melbourne, and Michael gets along so well with his mother-in-law Mary that they even co-host their new vodcast 'The Morning Roast' together.

But it turns out that wasn't always the way.

In a video tease of an upcoming episode of their vodcast, Mary revealed her first impression of Michael after meeting him at his and daughter Martha's reality TV wedding.

"I didn't like him," Mary revealed.

Michael kickstarted what looked to be a tense conversation by saying: "The truth needs to come out."

When Michael asked Mary what her first impression of him really was, she didn't hold back.

"I thought you were a dag, number one because of the way you were dressed," she began.

"Well actually, number one I thought you were handsome. I looked at your height and thought 'Yep, he's tall, he's cute'.

"You had a bit of darkness under your eyes but I thought we could fix that.

"And then your personality was very nerdy."

While Mary revealed that was simply her first impression of Michael, she went onto explain that she "didn't like [him]" when the trio went to Bondi for a trip.

The simple mention of the 'Bondi trip' cause Martha and Michael to shudder. "That was a bad, bad trip," they echoed.

"You weren't socialising, you just stayed in your room," Mary recalled.

Michael teased they would "fully unpack" that trip in the upcoming full episode considering it was a topic they'd never talked about themselves before.

In the comment section of the post Mary continued, "I thought you were a hermit 😮."

But fans adore the relationship the mother and son-in-law had these days.

"You love him now!" one wrote.

In August 2024, Martha, Michael and Mary announced the launch of their vodcast 'The Morning Roast'.

Martha and Michael revealed that they would deliver unedited episodes three times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

"The Morning Roast is going to be our morning vodcast, which is a video podcast," Martha explained.

"We're going to record eight to 12 minutes of our Morning Roast and it's going to be a discussion from the day before that we unpack.

"We've called it the roast because all we do in this family is roast each other."

While the exact launch date of the first official episode isn't known, The Morning Roast Instagram page teases it's coming very soon.

After that cheeky tease, we can't wait.
