MAFS' Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson tear up as they share heart-warming news with fans

Married At First Sight's Cam Merchant has become teary-eyed over a touching personal announcement, he's writing a book!

The groom, who has been open about his time in a mental rehab facility and "homelessness" as a retired professional cricket player, captured the emotional news in an Instagram video as wife Jules Robinson held him tight.

"If you had told me back in 2013 when I was at my lowest & I'd hit rock bottom that I'd one day write a book about it... I probably would've laughed," he began in a lengthy post.

In the video, Cam is seen taking a nervous, deep breath before finding out his manuscript has been accepted. He had to compose himself as the read out the news.

"POV: You're about to read one of the most important emails of your life," he captioned the video.

"This was a surreal moment I got to share with Jules. I didn't know what to say when I read it. I still don't, really."

Cam revealed the book titled, CLARITY: A Simple Method to Find Your Direction in a World Full of Noise, was inspired by his own personal hardships.

"This book is for anyone who's ever felt or currently feeling lost, overwhelmed, stuck or quietly wondering if there's more to life than this," he penned.

"It's for the person who may feel like it's looks like it's going good on the outside but barely holding it together on the inside. That was me."

The groom hopes to share the tools that helped him on his personal development and mental health journey.

"A living breathing example that this works because I'm here now so proud & grateful of where I've come from & where I am today," he wrote.

Cam opens up about his past struggles and finding himself 'homeless'

Three years after his MAFS journey, Cam opened up about hitting rock bottom after he retired from playing professional cricket in Canada.

Speaking on Gus Worland's podcast Not an Overnight Success with his wife Jules Robinson, the then 38-year-old revealed he spent time in a mental rehab facility after feeling like he'd lost his purpose.

"Once you lose value and you lose purpose as a cricketer, you completely lose everything that you wake up for in the morning," Cameron said at the time.

The groom revealed he was "in the worst possible place you could ever potentially dream of being."

Cam explained that it's common for retired sportsman to find themselves in a bad mental state when they have "no fall-back plan".

He had just come out of a long-term relationship, had no source of income and nowhere to sleep.

"I was in Vancouver airport homeless for four days in the airport on my own," the MAFS star revealed.

"I couldn't put pants on, I was mentally and physically crippled."

Cameron revealed he got himself back to Sydney and checked himself into Currumbin Clinic.

He got a new lease on life after getting into cricket coaching, and has said meeting his now wife Jules on MAFS in 2019 "saved" him.

The couple legally married a year later and now share two beautiful sons.
