To mark their one-month MAFS anniversary, the original couples celebrated with a dinner or perhaps a gift but Gia and Scott took things to the next level with matching tattoos.

They opted for barbed wire hearts around the number 13 for Season 13 of MAFS - how romantic! Should we tell them 13 is an unlucky number?

"There's no other way to describe our relationship other than very extra," Scott said. And nobody is arguing with that!

It was unclear whether they got it to be closer to one another or to one-up their co-stars.

"This should ruffle feathers," Gia smirked.

Gia

Aside from her matching tattoo with Scott, Gia was already pretty inked up.

She has a whole sleeve on her arm and other floral or animal themed tats scattered around but she was the first to admit "they don't really mean a lot".

The only exception was a tattoo of her daughter's name which she got soon after she was born.

Scott

Scott's tattoos on the other hand were very meaningful.

"I've got a money rose with one hundred dollar bills because I love money," he told 9Entertainment.

He continued: "I've got an eyeball on my bicep with the Story Bridge because I was born in Brisbane."

But his first tattoo, one of his late grandfather's initials, was near and dear to him. "He was my mentor and guidance," Scott said.

Rachel

Rachel first stamped herself at 18 with a frangipani for no other reason than she wanted a tattoo.

"I was really in my beachy, bohemian, surfer girl … I lived in the country!? There was no beach," she laughed at her former self.

Then of course she put her very millennial finger moustache tattoo on display.

Rachel also flashed an ink piece of a snake wrapped around a martini glass on the back of her arm.

"Why? Because it looked cool!" she explained the meaning (or lack thereof).

She pointed to a cup of coffee or rather a 'cup of ambition' signalling she was a huge Dolly Parton fan.

And finally as a huge AFL supporter, Rachel had the Collingwood magpie tattooed on her behind after they won the 2023 grand final. She says she has "no regrets".

Under that three piece suit is a serious collection of patchwork ink but a standout for Danny is a whiskey label tattooed on the back of his arm.

"My grandad was dying with cancer and we had a palliative care nurse at his house and he was a big whiskey drinker and my dad and I spoon fed him whiskey on his death bed," Danny explained the sentimental meaning behind it.

Grayson wanted to immortalise his love for his pet labradoodle Champ with an ink stencil of the pup on his ankle.

"He's my absolute ride or die."

Julia

All of Julia's body art holds a special family meaning.

One piece is an ode to her dad's sweet nickname for her, 'Theresa Green'.

The other is three birds inked on her bicep that symbolise her mum, dad and brother.

"Our last name means bird in German," Julia explained the link.

David's chest and arms are completely covered in ink but his favourite artwork is two doves on his chest.

"It's a sign of hope and overcoming adversity. Anything you go through in life you can come through that you just have to stay strong," he told 9Entertainment.

Alissa

Alissa's ink was sweet and simple – she just had one heart stencilled onto her wrist.

She got it matching with her best friend.

"We always said we were each other's soul mates," Alissa beamed.
