EXCLUSIVE: Katie and Tim's tumultuous marriage was the talk of the table during Monday's night's Married At First Sight Dinner Party.

Even more of a shock was Jamie's explosive reaction as Katie apologised to Tim, after the groom decided Katie "betrayed" his trust.

Speaking to 9Entertainment, Katie, 37, revealed the truth behind the tense moment and responded to Tim's wedding day comments that were said without her knowledge.

"After the honeymoon I could feel the tables starting to turn. I needed to protect my space," Katie began.

Following a disastrous honeymoon, Katie walked into the Dinner Party solo prompting the group to grill Tim for answers.

Tim was grilled for saying there had been no spark with Katie – and that she'd made minimal effort.

After Katie mentioned his "type", he eventually said he felt like she's "betrayed his trust" for not sticking up for him – to which Katie was left apologising.

The scene left fellow bride Jamie fuming.

"Although Jamie was not letting him off the hook, the other girls had different responses and that was the perfect symbology of my confusion," Katie explained.

"A big chunk of me was like, 'No, this is not OK.' The other part of me was like, be kind, be understanding," she went on.

"I'm just really glad I had the support of particularly Jamie to help me navigate through that. I was thinking, as long as I can get through to the Commitment Ceremony with my head held high – that's what I was focused on."

Tim's lack of "spark" is certainly one thing Katie's hoping to unpack with the experts.

It was comment that was first made clear, unbeknown to Katie, on their wedding day.

"I could sense something was up but to see the truth come out after he snuck off, it reminded me to trust my intuition for sure," she responded.

Katie said she was feeling "very supported by everyone" at the Dinner Party.

"I feel the love, I can see it all happening and also very validating," she smiled.
