Exclusive: Why Anthony never spilled his side of the drama with Selin to the group at the Dinner Party

When Selin arrived at the first Married At First Sight Dinner Party alone it was clear there were issues with her and Anthony.

It didn't take long for the 32-year-old to share her side of what went down on their honeymoon and spill on Anthony walking out. The ladies quickly sided with Selin, which made things incredibly awkward when Anthony arrived last.

As the night went on tensions rose between the couple, which wasn't helped by the fact that others were very happy to insert themselves into the drama.

One thing Anthony didn't do was add fuel to the fire and share his side of the story to everyone.

"I'm not like that, I don't throw people under the bus," Anthony said in an interview with 9Entertainment.

"If I have something that we need to discuss, then we need to discuss that between us. For me it felt very high school and I didn't want to engage in any of that.

"Because one, I didn't know anybody. Two, I didn't know what had been said, and three, with me, some things are sacred."

Anthony couldn't understand the "throwing me under the bus" and said that in a relationship he believes he is a gentleman.

"If we're going to discuss something we're going to discuss it privately," he added.

So, in an effort to try and work things out, the 38-year-old pulled Selin aside to discuss their issues without an audience.

"We're supposed to be in this together, we're supposed to be a team, we're supposed to have each other's backs and all that sort of stuff," Anthony explained.

"I didn't feel that team, I didn't feel the connection with her. For me it was, can we re-establish some sort of common ground that we can both build on. I thought, bring her aside, take her away from everybody, try and talk to her. But obviously Selin, she didn't really want to have that conversation yet."

Anthony apologised to Selin for his actions on their honeymoon, leaving early and not really giving her a chance to share her feelings about the situation.

As the salesman/pro-wrestler urged her that there is hope for their relationship and that he believes they can get past it, the experts were impressed with how he handled it.

But while Selin was trying to be understanding, she couldn't get past the fact that he walked out on her.

Their conversation went around and around in circles as they sat together. They ultimately decided to park where they were at for now and come back to it later.

The experts agreed there was a real sense of Selin not letting Anthony off the hook, despite his apologies. Only time will tell if they can get past this.
