Highlights:
The town of Derby sits in the north-east of Tasmania and is surrounded by world-class mountain biking trails.
David started his day on two wheels, hooning around some of the best and most challenging mountain biking in the world, stopping for the ultimate reprieve: a floating sauna jutting out over the town’s namesake lake.
Once a tin mine hole, the lake is not only the perfect place for a cold plunge in the fresh water, but also boasts this unique and serene floating sauna.
A 40km drive deep into the Tasmanian bush, David uncovered the surreal medieval-inspired accommodation known as The Keep; the last thing you’d expect to find so far from civilisation.
Built in 2019, the 3-story building turns isolation into a luxurious sanctuary, offering the ultimate retreat for couples. The philosophy is to switch off and immerse yourself in the Tasmanian wilderness, with 360-degree views.
While soaking in the solitude, David leaned further into the luxuriousness of The Keep by enlisting a private chef to cook up some fresh, local dishes.
Ending his day in the outdoor bathtub with a glass of wine, David surrendered himself to the mind-blowingly epic location.
From mountain-biking through rugged bushland, relaxing in a floating sauna, to ending the day at a secluded medieval stronghold complete with a private chef, Tasmania truly is a beautiful place, full of contrast.
