Simmone Jade Mackinnon teases return to acting and shares what she'd want in a McLeod's Daughters reboot

EXCLUSIVE: Simmone Jade MacKinnon feels like she's lived "many lives" and now she is ready for another.

The former Baywatch and McLeod's Daughters star is one of 14 trekkers attempting to make it to the top of a mountain to win a share of $1 million on The Summit's second season.

In an interview with 9Entertainment, Simmone said that after leaving her acting career to raise her son, 14-year-old Madigan, she feels like now could be the time to dive back in.

"I've been speaking to my agents," she revealed. "I've been out of the game for a long time.

"I really did want to focus on just being a mum. I wanted to give him my full attention and when you work on a show, on McLeod's sometimes we were working 14 hour days, it takes up so much of your time.

"I think it's at least time to have the chat and see where we're at and what's out there. It might be time to get back into that arena – if I can."

Unsurprisingly, Simmone – who played Stevie in six season's of McLeod's Daughters – has heard the many rumours about potential reboots or spin-offs.

She isn't sure what is next for the beloved series, but she'd be up for whatever creator Posie Graeme-Evans came up with.

"We're still around, the people want it, the people really want to see Xander and Charlotte and what's happened to the kids," she said.

"Imagine, they'd all be 18, 19, 20. How cool would that be? It's like how the show began with flashbacks to the young Alex Ryan and Claire..."

"She's got to do it soon or we'll be in walking frames, us older ones," she laughed.

Before McLeod's, Simmone had a stint in Hollywood as a star on Baywatch.

She often told Madigan stories from this time and she said he wished he was around for his mum's 'more glamourous' dancing and acting years.

"He's like, 'You met The Rock?'" she smiled. "I'm like, 'Yeah, yeah... we went out on a boat when I was doing Baywatch, blah blah blah,' and he's like, 'Oh my God, why wasn't I around then?!'"

More recently, Simmone worked as a Jillaroo and currently runs her clothing business, Wandering Ozzie.

On The Summit, she has been candid about her tough few years of anxiety, hair loss and financial struggles.

Now, whether she opens up another fresh acting chapter or not, Simmone is prepared for anything.

"I'll just keep plugging along," she said.

The Summit airs Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
