McLeod's Daughters star Simmone Jade Mackinnon opens up on the 'worst two years' of her life ahead of The Summit 2024

EXCLUSIVE: McLeod's Daughters actress Simmone Jade Mackinnon is no stranger to being on TV, what she isn't used to is the 180 kilometre climb ahead on The Summit.

For Simmone there's just one reason it's all worth it – the chance to win a life-changing $1 million prize for her and her 13-year-old son.

It's been an incredibly rough time Simmone who is struggling through financial hardship.

"The last two years have, by far, been my worst. I started a new business but the financial pressure is really intense," she said.

"My dad is sick and we're living in a shed and caravan at his place and my niece had a horrific accident. There's just been lots happening."

For Simmone the "relentless pressure" caused her to lose her hair, even her eyelashes and eyebrows.

But there's nothing that can bring Simmone down and she has her eyes very much on the prize.

"The money that could be made would be life-changing for us," she said.

"We could potentially get out of the caravan and just have room and space."
