Exclusive: My Mum Your Dad's Janine confirms new romance following 'sad' split from Simmo

Janine and Simmo's relationship blossomed while on My Mum Your Dad 2023.

With their daughters' approval, they decided to give love a chance outside the series following a touching Blessing Ceremony Finale.

Months after filming, 9Entertainent can exclusively reveal that while Janine's romance with Simmo didn't last the distance, Janine is dating someone new!

"As much as it was all loved up on the show, reality set in," said the mum-of-two following her time in the experience.

"We both decided that the spark we thought we might have had just wasn't there for lots of little reasons," she continued.

The pair spent a whirlwind six days together after leaving the Retreat, but soon realised it wasn't meant to be.

"Simmo did make the nine hour drive," she said of the distance between them.

"If there was more of a connection once the cameras stopped rolling, we would have gone to the next step and tried the whole long distance thing."

Speaking separately, Simmo reflected on his own experience.

"We talk a lot, we're still good mates, we've seen each other since," the dad-of-three revealed.

"We are geographically challenged, sadly. If we weren't, things might be different. But at the moment we're just mates and we'll see what happens from there."

Janine had something similar to say about their time together.

"Simmo was an absolute gentleman, everything you'd want in a man," she reflected.

"We still keep in contact, we're just not the perfect match."

With her heart open for love, Janine has since found a new connection – with someone outside the experience.

"I have actually met somebody," Janine beamed.

"I've met somebody through another nurse at work, and we've been seeing each other since the end of August.

"It's slow and steady but we're getting there so we'll see how that pans out!"

Simmo revealed he's also taking the "slow" lane on dating.

"The whole thing was such a cool experience," he said. "I am still single but I'm doing things a little different and I have more of an open mind going forward.

"I haven't been on any dates, but it's a slow-burn. Don't worry, it'll come back."
